Dr. Celisha Gerber, ND, LAc

 

 

Celisha grew up in Maryville, TN, leaving for a time to study and graduate from one of the best medical schools in North America for Natural Medicine, Bastyr University. She went on to gather clinical experience in Florida and Washington, and has returned to bring to her hometown the knowledge and skill that fosters health and hope.

 

Celisha is licensed in the state of Washington as a Doctor of Naturopathy, which is a form of Primary Health Care for the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health and the prevention of disease. She also holds a Masters in Acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Both schools of medicine focus on treating the whole person and looking for the cause of disease, as opposed to treating merely the symptoms. She received her degrees from Bastyr University in 2008, the largest nationally accredited university of Natural Medicine in the USA, well known for its leading-edge research and clinical training.

 

Celisha is on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Naturopathic Doctors Association, acting as Treasurer, to promote the advancement of Natural Medicine in Tennessee. As a board member, she encourages our political leaders, fellow practitioners, and our community to get involved in the efforts to make Naturopathic Medicine available to all here in Tennessee. Celisha also writes for the NPLEX (National Physicians Licensing Examinations), which is given by NABNE (the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners) in order for NDs to receive their license in those states that regulate the practice of Naturopathic Medicine.

 

Celisha acquired a love for alternative medicine from a young age. Her father, Dr. Eugene Runne, DC, studied at and became Assistant Director of a Natural Medicine Institute in Guatemala, Instituto Naturista Adventista. Then after returning to the USA, he received a doctorate in Chiropractic, which he practices to this day in Maryville, TN. Celisha’s mother, Imara Runne studied at the same Natural Medicine Institute and was certified as a midwife. Their principles of holistic health were instilled in their four children, leading each one to search out a different area in the health field. Celisha has now joined her father’s clinic as an independent contractor. Together, with God’s blessing, they hope to make a difference in the lives of their community.

 

Prior to attending Bastyr, Celisha received her Bachelor degree with honors as Summa Cum Laude in Spanish with a minor in Child Development from the University of Tennessee. The ability to communicate with the Latin community is crucial with our growing number Spanish-speaking families. Prior to that, Celisha graduated with an Associates Degree in Pre-medicine from Pellissippi State Community College. She is also very grateful for the preparation and support she had from her hometown church and school (Maryville SDA) and Maryville High School.

 

Celisha is happily married to Donaldo Gerber and has a 5 ½ -year old son and 6-month-old daughter. In addition to spending time with family, Celisha enjoys traveling and experiencing other cultures. Her hobbies include spending time with family, learning new languages, studying the latest research in medicine, and meeting new people.

 

Celisha holds that quality of life requires maintaining one’s health on all levels: spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Her objective is to work with you to help you meet or even exceed your personal wellness goals. 

 

Your visit with Celisha will include a detailed intake, a physical exam, review of prior labs, and a treatment plan formulated to your individual needs. Services offered include, but are not limited to, dietary and lifestyle guidelines, herbal/supplemental therapy, and Oriental medical treatment techniques.
